CUB Corona

CUB engaged SignManager to help them upgrade the Corona
signage at the Gilligans Backpackers Hotel and Resort in northern
QLD. CUB wanted to use real timber, being the most natural building material there is, not a printed look- alike product. Timber is not a typical signage material, so we teamed up with Sign Solutions NQ to help. We chose “spotted gum” timber as it had the best colour and grain, and lightly stained it as needed to achieve the required look. This timber is classified as hardwood, which is essential for long term outdoor weathering. Using such high quality timber showcases it’s natural character with subtle grain texture and slight imperfections.

We completed two large screens, five sunbed panels, and two bar sign panels. The large wall mounted ‘screens’ (top right photo) were fixed to a galvanised steel frame in the factory, then craned into place on site. They are coverings for the openings into the carpark. The client was very happy with the outcome, and the successful use of such different materials for signage.
